Exhibition "Once upon a time..." at Mandranova

Curated by: Rachel Schilirò

Martine Seibert-Raken is the first recipient of the Mandranova Art Prize for contemporary art, awarded for the first time in 2024. The prize was presented in collaboration with the Arte Laguna Prize in Venice. As Artist in Residence, she is staying at Mandranova until July 20, 2025.

During her residency, the artist engages in a multifaceted exploration of the landscape, agricultural practice, and cultural heritage. Her work unfolds as a poetic dialogue with the place – a curatorial interplay of nature observation, material experimentation, and formal composition.

Mandranova itself becomes a stage for artistic research. Seibert-Raken approaches the site not through documentation, but through atmosphere and developing a unique, site-specific visual language.

With Martine Seibert-Raken as Artist in Residence, we affirm our commitment to fostering a vibrant exchange between art, nature, and society. Her body of work Once upon a time… exemplifies themes that deeply resonate with us: reverence for what has been – and responsibility for what remains.

The works remind us that everything we do leaves traces – both visible and invisible. This attitude also shapes our philosophy: respect for life, nature, and Sicily’s cultural heritage forms the foundation of our sustainable actions – today and in the future.
